Meet Our Team

David Ford, PhD, PMP

Director of Project Management

In the fast-paced field of biotech project management, individuals who effectively combine the scientific aspects with practical drug development experience are rare.

We are proud to introduce Dr. David Ford, our Director of Project Management. Dave has successfully bridged the gap between academia and industry while overseeing over 60 projects since joining Radyus Research in 2020.

Dave's ability to maintain composure, even when confronted with formidable challenges, has earned him the respect of his colleagues and the appreciation of long-term Radyus clients.

We set down with Dave today to learn more about his journey to project management and celebrate his latest achievement.

·       This month, you obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), which is widely regarded and respected in the field of project management. The PMP certification is one of the most recognized and sought-after certifications for project managers globally. It demonstrates a high level of competence and expertise in project management practices, processes, and methodologies. So, huge congratulations Dave!

Thank you, I’m very honored and excited!

·       What are your key responsibilities as Director of PM at Radyus?

As Director of Project management at Radyus, my responsibilities include working high level to coordinate team resources in parallel workstreams, as well as on the ground facilitating project execution with our clients, team, and partners.

·       Collaboration is crucial in drug development teams. How do you effectively communicate and resolve any issues to keep the project on track?

Issues and roadblocks can be unavoidable, but the best way to mitigate risks is clear communication among all stakeholders. We are all on the same “team” in achieving our client’s objectives, and it’s rare that we can’t work together to find a solution acceptable for all parties.

·       Good program managers are great communicators and relationship builders. Can you share your approach to keeping stakeholders informed and engaged throughout a project's lifecycle?

My approach is to make it clear through words and actions that we have our clients’ best interests at heart. Their success is our success, and Radyus is interested in long term collaborations that see our clients’ programs enter the market successfully. Granularly, it’s important to use regular updates and check-ins to keep all team members engaged.

·       Drug development projects can be time-consuming and resource intensive. How do you work with stakeholders to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and manage timelines to ensure that projects progress efficiently and meet milestones?

Keeping all the plates spinning throughout a project requires your two best types of resources: People and Tools. The People must be supported from leveraging the guidance from senior members to fostering growth in the junior members. Your Tools, either a multi-layered Gantt chart or a simple To-Do list, are what keep everything accountable!

·       Finally, what is your favorite thing about leading the project management group at Radyus?

I appreciate being on a collaborative team focused on proactively solving the challenges of drug development, with everyday opportunities to learn from team members with years of varied experience.

·       Thank you!
