Mr. Day served as Assistant Vice President on the University of Florida’s Office of Technology Licensing as Director from 2001 to 2017. He oversaw the commercialization efforts for UF through licensing, incubation, and other related activities. Before moving to the University of Florida (UF) (1994-2001), Day was the Executive Director of the University of Alabama in Birmingham Research Foundation. As the principal consultant for LevelSet Capital, an IP-based venture capital firm, and a member of the Board of Directors and Advisory Committees for several other companies (Southeast Life Sciences Association, BioFlorida, the Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention, and the Palm Beach County Life Sciences Advisory Board), Day continues to converse with and advise businesses in the biotechnology and technology transfer space through DDay Ventures.
As an advisor, Mr. Day brings over twenty years of consulting, commercialization, economic development, licensing, and technology transfer experience to Radyus. In addition to acting as the Assistant Vice President for Technology Transfer at UF, Day also served as Executive Director of the Southeastern BIO Investment and Partnering Forum from (2017-2019) through its successful merger with the Southeast Medical Device Association to form the Southeast Life Science Association. His extensive experience in these roles, as well as his work as a consultant, are crucial to our work at Radyus.
As Assistant Vice President, Day led UF’s technology transfer program to be named the #3 technology transfer program out of 220 in the United States (2017) by the Milken Institute. The Florida Innovation Hub at UF and the Sid Martin Biotechnology Institute took top honors worldwide and the Florida Innovation Hub at UF was named Incubator of the Year by the National Business Incubation Association (2013). In 2019, the program was named Incubator of the Year again, the only program to have ascertained the distinction of World’s Best Incubator.
Mr. Day received a degree in social sciences and educational media from Auburn University (1972) as well as a master’s degree in library and information studies (1977) his Executive MBA (1987) from the University of Alabama. Day is the President of DDay Ventures, working as a consultant assisting universities, research institutions, and small businesses in the commercialization of new technologies. He is also listed as one of the 25 most influential people in the Southeast Technology Community (2007), a recipient of the Special Volunteer Recognition Award for the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce (2013), and an Honorary Inductee to the Florida Blue Key Honor Society (2016). Mr. Day’s mission is to foster the growth of the life sciences industry by promoting entrepreneurship and connect key stakeholders active in the development of the industry.
