Dr. Eric Rowinsky received his bachelor’s degree from New York University and his MD from Vanderbilt University prior to completing a residency in Internal Medicine at University of California San Diego and a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins University. He has experience working with clinical-stage biopharmaceutical and biotherapeutic companies to target critical cancer drivers. Dr. Rowinsky has worked as Chief Medical Officer, Chief Scientific Officer, and Head of Research Development for Clearpath Development, Inc. and Stemline Therapeutics, rapidly advancing development stage therapeutic assets to predefined human proof-of-concept milestones and focusing on discovery and development of therapeutics targeting cancer stem cells and rare diseases.
Dr. Rowinsky has extensive research and drug development and regulatory experience and broad scientific and medical knowledge.Rowinsky was a member of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Cancer Institute and an Associate Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He has been an independent consultant to the biopharmaceutical industry since 2010. Rowinsky has formerly held several public company directorships at BIND Therapeutics Inc., Biophytis S.A., and Navidea Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Rowinsky was President as well as Executive Chairman of Inspirna, Inc. and Chief Medical Officer of Hummingbird Biotherapeutics and Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of ImClone Systems, Inc. He also served as Director of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center’s Institute for Drug Development and Director of Clinical Research. He was Head of Research and Development at Stemline Therapeutics, Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of Primrose Therapeutics, Inc., a start-up biotechnology company focusing on development of therapeutics for polycystic kidney disease. Currently, he sits on the board for Fortress Biotech, Inc., Purple Biotech Ltd., and Verastem, Inc. and is the director of several biopharmaceutical companies, Fortress Biotech Inc., Purple Biotech Ltd., and Verastem, Inc.
Dr. Rowinsky’s professional career has focused on the development and registration of a wide array of new therapeutics. He has led teams that have registered more than twelve novel therapies for patients with advanced cancers, experience that is invaluable to Radyus. Dr. Rowinsky earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from New York University and his MD from Vanderbilt University. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California San Diego and a fellowship in Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins University. He has held the SBC Endowed Chair for Early Drug Development and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and was Associate Professor of Oncology at johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Additionally, he served on the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Cancer Institute.
