Dr. Eric Springman received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from Florida Atlantic University (1986) and obtained his PhD in Molecular Biophysics from Florida State University (1992). He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology, as well as Allergy and Immunology, as an American Lung Association Research Fellow at Vanderbilt University (1995). Dr. Springman’s career has focused on the discovery and development of novel therapeutics targeting immunomodulatory pathways. Most recently, he has served as a therapeutic development consultant and founded a startup biotech company, Soleil Therapeutics, which seeks to develop anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial compounds to treat respiratory diseases.
Dr. Springman has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 27 years and has expertise in several key areas including drug development, drug discovery, and biotech entrepreneurship. As the Head of Development on the Radyus team, he brings with him 10 years of consulting experience regarding therapeutic development for biotech companies.
Dr. Springman has worked with several pharmaceutical companies over the span of his career. He was a Group Leader at Arris/Axys Pharmaceuticals (1995-1998), Head of Arthritic and Fibrosis Therapy Area at Roche Pharmaceuticals (1998-2001), and Head of Discovery and Development at Locus Pharmaceuticals (2001-2009). He then served as Chief Scientific Officer at Celtaxsys, Inc. (2009-2020). In addition, Dr. Springman is the Founder & President of Illuma Biosciences and Founder and Executive Director of Soleil Therapeutics.
Dr. Springman has spent a significant portion of his career in executive positions raising capital for biotech companies. He has experience in carrying ideas from conception to proof-of-concept. Having founded two companies and worked with biotech companies for over two decades, Dr. Springman assists academic innovators, independent IP holders, and early-stage biotech companies in bringing their concepts to clinical fruition. His current clients span a range of therapeutic and diagnostic areas including cancer, fibrosis, immunology, and inflammatory conditions.
